Luc Véchot, Ph.D. Joins DEKRA Process Safety France
Lyon, France – DEKRA, a global partner for a safe world, has announced the addition of Luc Véchot, Ph.D. to its Process Safety group. Dr. Véchot will lead the consulting team in France.
Dr. Véchot has already a remarkable career in process safety. He holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne (France). He has worked on process safety-related research topics for the past 15 years in collaborations with universities, public laboratories and industries.
He started his career at the Health & Safety Laboratory (HSL) in Buxton, UK, where he served as a process safety engineer, then he joined Texas A&M University in Qatar (TAMUQ) as an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering where he developed the process safety research, outreach and teaching activities. In 2013, he led the establishment of a satellite of the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center (MKOPSC) at TAMUQ. Under his leadership as Managing Director, with the support of the local Oil and Gas and Petrochemical industry, the center has become a unique process safety research institution supporting the industry on major process safety issues and training the new generation of process safety engineers of the Gulf region. In 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor at TAMUQ. For the last 8 years, he organized and chaired the annual Qatar Process Safety Symposium in Doha, Qatar, that gathered 250+ attendees in Qatar and the wider GCC region.
“This is a key recruitment for strengthening and growing the DEKRA process safety services in Europe. Dr. Véchot’s wide expertise in process safety will prove invaluable to offer improved solutions to our clients. Given his particular expertise in process safety education, he will play an important role in accelerating the growth of our DEKRA Process Safety Academy whose mission is to spread process safety competence within the process industry,” commented Hervé Vaudrey, Regional Director EMEA for DEKRA Process Safety.
“With his wide experience in process safety - including vent sizing calculations - Dr. Véchot will strengthen and complement the skills portfolio of our consulting team,” said Joseph-Marc François, Managing Director for Dekra Process Safety France.
